Land Acknowledgment

St. James’ Episcopal Church, Old Town, acknowledges that our building is located on ancestral land of the Penobscot Nation. We recognize the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization which continue to affect Wabanaki people today, most especially the Doctrine of Christian Discovery and Domination. We pledge to meaningfully engage with issues facing the Wabanaki, upholding their inherent sovereignty and right to self-determination.
